There are three termite species that infest California.

These are the subterranean (which is common worldwide); the California drywood; and the Pacific dampwood.

Small beige, brown, or black droppings indicate drywood or dampwood termite presence, whereas brown mud tubes or tunnels are evidence of subterranean termite infestation. When termites swarm, you may also see their wings around window sills and floorboards.
