Here's a few pointers that you may of not known.

Termites cause over one billion dollars in property damage per year in the United States. That’s more than all fires and floods combined. Unlike a fast and furious disaster termites work like insidious disease, slowly and silently eating away your home or other property, Your structure can be damaged with you realizing it.

CHECK FOR YOURSELF

There are three termite species that infest California. These are the subterranean ( which is common worldwide ) ; the California drywood; and the Pacific dampwood and subterranean termites are most common. If you see the small beige, brown, or black droppings, this is an indication of termite presence. Brown mud tubes or tunnels can indicate subterranean termite infestation.
