Non-toxic, alternative treatments are an ideal solution to pest problems. However, the options are few and far between. Usually, folks will have to resort to pesticides and tent fumigation to eradicate pests, including termites. Fortunately, we’ve innovated an alternative to those harsh chemicals: Microwave termite treatments. Our XTerminator 4.0™ microwave treatment option penetrates the subsurface of your walls, and kills termites on contact. So that begs the question: What are the pros and cons of chemical treatments vs. our alternative, the Xterminator 4.0 microwave treatment?
The Pros of Chemical Treatments
Chemical treatments are effective, and they can treat termites throughout a large space. If you have a home that’s infested with a large amount of termites, fumigation may be the best option to eradicate your pests. When fumigating, chemicals are forced into the air within a structure. These chemicals float throughout the space and into termite tunnels. Termites breathe the toxic chemicals which attack a termite’s nervous system. Chemical treatments are very effective, because they can reach any space where your termites reside. Plus, they wipe out the whole population at once.
The Cons of Chemical Treatments
Chemical treatments are inconvenient, expensive, and toxic. You’ll have to vacate your home for days on end to make room for a tenting operation. That means that you’ll have to pack up your family, all of your pets, your plants, your food, your cosmetics, your medications, and other objects that may be affected by the chemical treatment. Chemical treatments are more expensive than localized microwave treatments (since the exterminator will have to build a tent to encapsulate your home, then apply and monitor the treatment, then tear down the tenting structure and test the air quality to ensure that your home is safe for return). In addition, you’ll probably have to shell out a few bucks to stay at a hotel in the interim, and to store all of the stuff that you couldn’t leave behind in the house.
The Pros of Alternative Microwave Treatments
Microwave treatments are far less invasive than chemical treatments, they’re nearly 100 percent effective, they have less of an impact on the environment, and they’re a more affordable option.
With a microwave treatment, you won’t have to pack up half of the house as mentioned before. Treatments are localized, and the microwaves can only harm termites which the XTerminator 4.0™ targets.
The state of California noted that our microwave treatments had a 97.4 percent efficacy rate on the structure that was treated. Plus, since then, we’ve upgraded and improved our technology for even better results.
In addition, microwave treatments don’t have a negative impact on the environment; no toxic chemicals are released into the atmosphere. Microwave treatments utilize electromagnetic waves to heat a targeted area. We can target termite dens, making microwave treatments extremely efficient, effective, and environmentally friendly.
Microwave treatments are more affordable than tented fumigation treatments. Also, you won’t have to vacate to a hotel during a fumigation treatment.
The Cons of Alternative Microwave Treatments
Microwave treatments aren’t 100 percent effective, and they require inspection and proper performance to be executed effectively. However, microwave treatments attack both mature adult termites and termite eggs alike.
Microwave treatments aren’t as potent for larger infestations. If, for instance, a substantial portion of the structure has been infiltrated by a swarm (or swarms) of termites, it may be more viable to resort to tenting and fumigation extermination treatments.
