Termites and Homeowners Insurance

November 16, 2012by

Today we’re going to talk about termites and homeowners insurance. Oh brother, talk about your adult topics… After this how about we get into foods that cause gout and tax deductibles? Oy!

As it turns out some things in life just can’t be avoided and really are better if you face them head on. Some things get everybody, like death and taxes. Other of life’s little indignities are reserved for those of us who own or manage properties. Which brings us back to the topic at hand:  Does insurance cover damages from a termite infestation?

And, dear readers, I’m sorry to report that there is currently no homeowners insurance protection for termite infestations. However, in classic bureaucratic wisdom, there may be coverage for resulting damage to the structure depending on the type and scope of coverage you purchased. Having fun yet?
Alas, my less then perfect readers, in the eyes of insurance carriers making termite control part of a normal maintenance routine is considered part of your responsibility as a property owner. (Huh. I think I see a need for general “loose end I didn’t deal with” insurance.)

So where does that leave us, the not always perfect, but wanting to do the right thing, property owner? At the mercy of natures most perfect wood processing creature? Fortunately no! Heroic termite control service companies like Hi-Tech Termite Control can come to the rescue with service warranty that provide for regular corrective or preventative treatments performed to the structure.

Hi-Tech offers a full-structure control service agreement for two years on drywood termites. And unlike most companies, Hi-Tech covers any new areas of infestation that may occur during the service agreement period. Extended control service agreements are also available and transferable if you sell your property.

Hi-Tech also offers service contracts on Subterranean Termites. Most companies don’t. So call the Hi-Tech Team, your source for free termite inspections. We proudly provide service throughout Southern California, including in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County — call us for termite control services!
