Are There Environmentally-Friendly Termite Treatments?
Yes! At Hi-Tech Termite Control, we offer two environmentally-friendly termite treatments. We believe in utilizing modern technology and advanced research in the termite control field to provide our customers with new, innovative termite control methods that are not harsh on the environment and are safe for children and pets.
Our orange oil termite treatment utilizes oil that is extracted from orange peels that contain d-limonene. It doesn’t get much more environmentally-friendly than using naturally occurring products to treat termite infestations. This oil is injected into your walls where the termites are nesting and eating to safely eradicate the infestation without causing harm to you, your family, or your pets.
Xterminator 4.0™ Microwave Termite Treatment
The Xterminator 4.0™ microwave termite treatment doesn’t utilize any chemicals whatsoever while treating a termite infestation. It produces microwave energy that the exterminator directs towards the infestation. As the energy comes into contact with the termites and their eggs, it converts into heat, killing the pests. This means no chemicals to hurt the environment or your family and pets.
How Long Does Fumigation for Termites Take?
In the event that your home does require fumigation, this process takes a total of three days. During these days, you will be required to stay away from your home for your safety. Fumigation does require the use of chemicals, but it may be the only solution for some larger termite infestations. If your home needs to be fumigated, you should expect the following to happen within three days:
Day One of Fumigation
On the first day, we will construct the tent around your home and begin to release the gas. We are extremely careful with putting up the tent and ensure that no gas can escape.
Day Two of Fumigation
During day two, we measure the amount of gas in your home. This is important to ensure that fumigation is effective. We then begin to aerate your home and allow the gas to dissipate.
Day Three of Fumigation
During the third day, our termite specialists will termove the tent from your home. We will ensure that the gas is completely gone and that your home is safe to enter. Typically, we are finished clearing the house for re-entry around noon on the third day.
Does D-Limonene Really Kill Termites?
Yes! D-limonene, found in the oil extracted from orange peels, really does kill termites. In fact, it does such a good job that we make our XT-2000 Orange Oil Plus with 95% d-limonene. This naturally occurring compound can be found in many citrus fruits and not only kills termites but is also used in food, cleaning agents, and essential oils.
How Do I Know If I have a Termite Infestation?
There are some signs that you can look for to determine whether or not you have a termite infestation such as mud tunnels, hollow wood, packed earth, and sagging floors. However, the only way to know for sure if you have termites in your home is to have a professional termite inspection performed by a reputable pest control company.
At Hi-Tech Termite Control, we offer our customers a free termite inspection. If you don’t have a termite infestation, the inspection can offer you peace of mind. And, if you do have termites in your home, we can provide you with an effective and safe treatment.
